  • Large Compass Rose Tie

    Description

The compass rose began to appear on charts and maps in the 1300's. The term "rose" is used because the figure's compass points resemble petals of the flower. Different schools of cartographers developed their own standard for compass rose design. The common theme was the 32 points of the compass and, beginning in the 14th century, a fleur-de-lys was used to indicate North.

These 100% silk ties are a handsome presentation of this classic design.

Available in Red, Khaki, Light Blue and Navy.
