William Duffy

William Duffy was born in Boston, Mass in 1948 and received his art education at Worcester Museum School /Clark University. He has worked in illustration and fine art for over twenty years, however, recent increased recognition of his paintings has enabled him to devote almost all of his time to fine art.

His goal in painting, through composition and depiction of light and atmosphere, is to create within the viewer a mood, and hopefully, to quietly stir the soul. Although known primarily for nautical subject matter, Bill also uses landscapes and still life to achieve his aesthetic purposes. His work is shown in numerous galleries, and is in collections across the country. Bill exhibited at the Mystic Maritime Gallery International Exhibitions from 1993 through 1997, and the Modern Marine Masters Invitational Exhibition in 1995, 1996 and 1997. He received the Award of Excellence at Mystic in 1993.
