ALERION III, Herreshoff Hull #718
Herreshoff, N.G.
Description
ALERION III, built and designed by Capt. Nathanael Herreshoff for his own use; design was inspiration for 12-1/2 footers, Newport 29-footers, Fish Class, and Buzzards Bay 25's; original gaff rig replaced with sliding gunther rig. Plans drawn by Mystic Seaport staff in 1985-1987.
These plans were developed as a basic record of the vessel and are not sufficiently detailed for construction purposes. The Herreshoffs almost never drew lines plans; there are no offset or original sail plans. Hence, any boat or model built from this information is only an approximation of the original. Sale of these plans does not convey the right to use the Herreshoff name.
