    Description

The 15' 6" Buzzard’s Bay 12-1/2 class, NETTLE, was designed by Nathanael G. Herreshoff and built by Herreshoff Manufacturing Co. in 1914. The Herreshoff 12-1/2 class was also known as: Bull's Eye Class, Buzzard's Bay Class, the Bristol class and the Dough Dish. The first boat had a gaff rig. Other classes later had a Marconi rig and the "wishbone" was also adapted.  Plans drawn in 1977.

These plans were developed as a basic record of the vessel and are not sufficiently detailed for construction purposes.  The Herreshoffs almost never drew lines plans; there are no offset or original sail plans.  Hence, any boat or model built from this information is only an approximation of the original.  Sale of these plans does not convey the right to use the Herreshoff name.
