The Highball Express, 1920

Rosenfeld Collection

Description

Designed by Inglis Uppercu, the Aeromarine seaplane ran between New York City and Key West in the winters of the early 1920s.  It became known as The Highball Express because it transported wealthy passengers to Cuba during Prohibition.  It is shown here after the end of the International Cup Race in Keyport, New Jersey on July 29, 1920.
