Moving easily through a windswept sea under a dramatic sky, Stormy Weather is clearly in her element. The 54 foot yawl sails with her jib stowed, storm staysail set and a single reef in main and mizzen as the morning watch enjoys a beautiful dawn.

Mecray has faithfully captured the look and feel of an early-morning sea. Clouds are breaking up to the southeast as a squall moves off to the north. The setting evokes the experience of an offshore passage for anyone who has spent time at sea—or only dreamed of it.

Stormy Weather was designed by Olin Stephens with long distance ocean racing in mind. She was built at the Nevens' Yard at City Island, New York, launched in 1934 and, having cruised countless miles and won many races, is still sailing—a fitting tribute to her designer and owners.
