    The seventh defense of the America's Cup took place on September 27th, 1887. The New York Yacht Club's Volunteer, defended the Cup against Thistle, the challenger from Scotland's Royal Clude Yacht Club.


    This painting by John Mecray depicts the definitive moment during the first race in the best out of three series.
