The L.A. DUNTON is a 123' fishing schooner, designed by Thomas F. McManus and built by Arthur D. Story of Essex, Massachusetts in 1921.  Built without an engine, a diesel engine was installed circa 1924. The engine was later removed at Mystic Seaport. Designated a National Historic Landmark on November 4, 1993, it's one of the last all-sail American fishing schooners launched for working rather than racing. The L.A. DUNTON also fished for halibut and haddock and participated in the 1922 International Cup elimination trials. She was launched March 21, 1921.
