Henry Rushton of Canton, New York, responded to the small Rob Roy canoes with a series of double-paddle canoes. Most useful of these were the Vaux models, named for an American Canoe Association founder and author, C. Bowyer Vaux.  Its lightweight makes it portable and an easy paddler.  The length and breadth is so well proportioned that they keep exceptionally dry in rough water.  The boat is perfectly double-ended. A relatively hard-bilged, shallow V bottom should give some stability in this light boat.  From 87 Boat Designs by Ben Fuller.
