ZIO and NIGHTWIND, 1939

At the end of the 1930s we wondered if the J-boats would ever race again, as they had become too expensive to maintain, The smaller 12-meter class was becoming the yacht of the times.   Nightwind and Zio are on a cruise from Glen Cove to New London and are reaching down the middle of the Sound well off the Connecticut shore in a freshening afternoon southwesterly.
